That’s How It Works For Me

You wouldn’t call me a lucky person by first-world standards. Or a generously gifted person by any standards. Like many others, I rely on finding the silver lining to every cloud and counting my blessings to make life bearable. It is a good strategy, it works and I commit to it with religious conviction.
But then my mind acts up again and the world gets too much for me and the it-could-be-worse consolation gets old. Yes, it could be worse, but it could also be better. It could have been better. It should have been better or shouldn’t have been at all.
You don’t make a big fuss about it, you just wait it out and then strive to make life tolerable again.
